Question: How can i get my essay back? Please help!?

I was typing up an essay for my math assignment, and I quickly went upstairs to do something without saving my work. When I got back, I found my essay was closed, and when i opened it up it was all GONE. I don’t have much time to finish this assignment, and would hate to do this over again… does anyone know anyway I can get the unsaved information back?

I have a Dell, and I’m using Windows Vista and the program I’m using is Microsoft Works Word Processor, if that helps/matters. (NOT the new version of Microsoft Word!)

Answer: Probably not. There may be someone with better skills than mine at using a program that can read the sectors of your disk that were used for temporary storage. In my experience, you could rewrite the essay faster.

Have you given any thought to downloading and using OpenOffice? (http://www.openoffice.org/) The program is free and it is actually a suite of programs that are comparable to MS Office only easier to use. I have both MS Office 2007 and OpenOffice on my Vista OS, use mostly OpenOffice, and like the feature that if the WP program (Writer) is accidentally closed, it will save the document(s) I’m working on and retrieve them when the program is opened again.

MS Works has some good features–the graphics, for instance–but the word processing program saves documents in .wks format, which is all but unreadable on any computer except the one that created it. If you are going to use Works, I recommend you Save As .rtf files so that you can retrieve them in other programs on other computers.

Good luck with your rewrite.
