Question: Can anyone please help me with this quick math question?

Train L and train M leave a station at the same time heading in opposite directions. Train L is going north at an average speed of 75 miles per hour (mph). Train M is going south at an average speed of 60 mph.
A. How long does it take each train, in hours, to travel 225 miles along the track? Show all your work. Explain why you did each step.
B. What is the distance, in miles, between the two trains after each train travels for 6 hours? Show all your work. Explain why you did each step.

Whoever answers gets an easy 10 points.

Answer: Distance = velocity * time
so
Time = distance / velocity

Part A going 225 miles
Train L takes (225 mi / 75 mi/hr) = 3 hr
Train M takes (225 mi / 60 mi/hr) = 3.75 hr = 3 hr 45 min

Part B going 6 hours
Train L distance (75 mi/hr * 6 hr) = 450 mi
Train M distance (60 mi/hr * 6 hr) = 360 mi
They are going in opposite directions, so distance between them after 6 hr is
D = 450 + 360 = 810 miles

Answer: The answers are in you textbook. To find them, it is necessary to open the book, read it, do the problems and think about them. If you are just given the answers without understanding them, you might get a good grade, but in the end you’ll know nothing. Better to do the work… you don’t want to be an idiot do you?
