Question: Need Help With Math Homework. Can you explain coefficients, the like terms, and constants are?

I have math homework that I don’t understand a bit please help.

Answer: Coefficients are numbers in front of variables. The coefficient of 4x² is 4;
the coefficient of y² is 1 (it’s not written when it is 1)
Like terms have exactly the same variables (coefficient doesn’t matter).
3x² and 5x² are like terms; 4y and 5x are not; 5y and 5y² are not; 4xyz and 3xyz are like terms.
Constants are terms with no variable. 8 is a constant, 8x is not.

Question: i need help what type of Ontario university studies i should choose?

i love interacting with people
i like to study but not super hard and long.
im really weak in math area

So i was thinking some things like psychology, socialolgy etc.

im a male.

Anyone have some majors i can think about ?

Answer: Nathan, Sir, you’re a high school student, yes? Have you spoken with your school guidance counselor, your parents, and your teachers? I’m willing to bet the answers to that question is No No and No. Listen to me. Start seeking advice from those who know you best and start asking yourself these questions.

Question: 3rd grade math homework, school is being lazy…..?

My daughter has been having some trouble with her math homework lately so while corresponding with her teacher about the issue this is what she said,

“well, we send it home but she doesn’t really have to do it at home, just as long as it looks like she tried, or as long as she has her name on it when she brings it back thats fine. We go over it in school.”

Does that sound fishy to anyone? I figure if you have homework then it’s work that needs to be done at home and returned to school finished the next day. Apparently they just like to send things home for no reason at all. I have my daughter do the work to the best of her ability and then get help for the questions she had trouble with the next day, but i do not allow her to just slap her name on the worksheets and call it a night. We help her as best we can here, but honestly I am no math whiz, not even close so I am pretty clueless.

How does homework work at your 3rd graders schools?

Answer: Homework holds a special spot, no where near my heart.

As a 3rd grader my daughter was encouraged to get “rolling backpacks” as the amount of homework exceeded the ability of the children to carry it on their back. The problem was, the rolling backpacks where too small, and so my child used carry on luggage as her school backpack for a year.

Of 6 classes, each regularily assigned 2 pieces of homework. My daughter is very bright and would finish it within an hour, others would not finish it ever…. (which is where the “as long as it looks like you tried” part comes into play)

I do believe the school is being lazy. They have stopped using homework to reinforce the day’s lesson and started using our homes as a “night school” to learn what they cannot (or will not) teach during the day. It sounds like that is what is happening in your case as well.

Last week while studying for a test, my daughter told me that she had to memorize the specific examples. Knowing the concept was not a priority, knowing the specific example was. I took this as the teacher not knowing what she was teaching, and therefore could not determine if an example not found in the book was correct or not.
