Question: Math Homework?

I aint got no idea how to do this stuff w/ slope. what is the slpe of a line that has 3,3 as one dot and 6,8 as the other?

Answer: What don’t you get? Just put a dot on (3,3) and then another one on (6,8) and connect the two, and there is your slope. Unless you need all of that formula crap, then that is gonna take a little but more effort!

Question: Why do people ask math homework questions on yahoo answers?

I mean is x(x-5) REALLY THAT HARD? And if it is, isn’t it more beneficial to him/her to go on Google and learn for himself/herself?

Are these people going to be asking 3-variable differential equation questions when they get to college?

Of course I wouldn’t be expecting someone who asks simple algebra questions on Y!A to be capable of going to college, not to mention be in a math class that requires the solving of ANY differential equation…
English rosethorn, you are obviously not a computer programmer or an accountant.
Stevenson, you may have a point if these question askers didn’t choose the short-and-to-the-point answers as the best ones versus the ones that actually explain how to get to the answer…

Answer: i dont know why people ask homework questions on here either when people post wrong answers (either on purpose or on accident). it would be a better idea to ask homework questions on like a math expert forum or something lol.

but anyway to answer your question, people ask math hw questions on here hoping lots of people will see it (since yahoo answers is so popular and tons of people come here all the time) and answer correctly and quickly.

yes they will be asking 3 variable differential equations here, in hopes of building an online knowledge base so that when the next person googles the same problem next semester that same yahoo question and answer will still be up.

Question: Are schools really daycare centers/prisons for kids from kindergarten to high school?

My teacher once told me school is a prison/daycare center. Teachers have to do two jobs: Babysit troublemakers and teach. Think about it he said. You are forced to follow bells going from class to class, following orders without much questioning. Even today I still have nightmares about being in the 9th grade and forgetting to turn my math homework in.

I sometimes have dreams bout being back in school myself….

Answer: Some are…. like…private schools… they can do what they want and treat their children like crap.. and don’t teach them anything. Same with some public schools. Certain areas are better than others. Then of course you have the general school population. I went to school in the East Bay California and although my personal education was good (Graduate #197 out of 1000 graduates) there were others who never even got to senior year. They used school as a hang out spot until the rules got to strict…. or their parents kicked them out.

The teacher who told you that should have been fired. When you bring that mentality to your classroom, you’ll be hard pressed to find a student who doesn’t mess around and goof off. Being a teacher is a respected position.

Look up Freedom Writers (the movie) and watch it. Along with Gangsters Paradise (With Michelle Pfiffer, i think thats the name of the movie) and The Principle (With John Beluchi). Thoes movies are based some what on true events and atleast real life situations.

As for your nightmares… if your telling the truth about a nightmare and not just an unplesant dream, i suggest you seek therapy to get to the bottom of it. If anything you may just need to accept 9th grade math and move on. Clearly there were other things that the teacher did to you on a psychological level that cannot be cured by graduating.
