Question: find an equation math helper please?
Find an equation y=mx+b of the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining the points A(9,6) and B(15,0).
i got m but for b i cannot figure it out at all!! can you help me out please
Answer: Perpendicualr bisector intersects the line segment at mid point.
So, u need to find the mid-point of AB.
Mid-point = [(9 + 15) / 2 , (6 + 0) / 2] = (12, 3)
Also,
Gradient of line AB, m1 = – 6 / 6 = -1
So, gradient of perependicular bisector, m = 1
Eq. of line is given as:
y – y1 = m (x – x1)
y – 3 = 1 (x – 12)
y – 3 = x – 12
y = x – 12 + 3
y = x – 9
