Math Help Rational Equations

Question: Hi can someone out there help me with these math problems. They are Rational Equations ….??
1. 5/(y-2) = y+2
2. x/3 – 2/3 = 1/x
3. (y+2)/y = 1/(y-5)
4. x^2/(x-4) – 7/(x-4)= 0
5. x^2/(x+3) – 5/(x+3) = 0
Can someone help me… i have a final on this coming up on monday and i have no idea how to get the answers to these equations. If i have the answer i can figure out the work… so you dont have to type it all out.
Answer: 1. 5/(y-2) = y+2
Multiply both sides by y-2 and go ahead and multiply out the right side.
5 = y^2 – 4
Add 4 to both sides.
9 = y^2
Take the square root of both sides.
y = -3 or y = 3.
You can plug these values into the original equation to check.
2. x/3 – 2/3 = 1/x
Multiply both sides by 3x.
x^2 – 2x = 3
Subtract 3 from both sides.
x^2 -2x – 3 = 0
Factor
(x+1)(x-3) = 0
x = -1 or x = 3.
3. (y+2)/y = 1/(y-5)
Multiply both sides by y(y-5)
(y+2)(y-5) = y
y^2 – 3y – 10 = y
Subtract y from both sides.
y^2 – 4y – 10 = 0
From here you will need to use the Quadratic Formula.
4. x^2/(x-4) – 7/(x-4)= 0
Multiply both sides by x-4.
x^2 – 7 = 0
x^2 = 7
x = -sqrt(7) or x = sqrt(7)
You should be able to do the last one.

Question: Math In Yahoo / Help meee?
The side of a square is 3x; Calculate its perimeter.!!
Help me please.. I really need it, I have a test on these, and i wanna learn it..Leave me the answer … and if u have time please leave me the explanation .. with the answer..
Answer: Don’t listen to ‘dan’!
if the side of a SQUARE is 3x, that means that every side = 3x, and since there are 4 sides to a square, 4 times 3x = 12x
the perimeter is equal to 12x
