Math Homework Online Help

Question: homework help for math?
Alright, I’m having trouble learning on my online math class, any suggestions on what I’m not realizing? The instruct shows this but doesn’t explain…
2/5 = 2 over 5 and so forth, it’s fractions
Solve x – 2/5 = 3/10
10 (x – 2/5) = 10 (3/10)
10x – 10 (2/5) = 10 (3/10)
10x – 4 = 3
10x = 7
x = 7/10
I don’t understand where the 10x – 4 = 3 comes from, nor the 10x = 7. Can someone explain to me how the instruct portion come up with that? I can’t seem to find anywhere how it would fit in. Thanks!
Thanks for the quick responses guys! Much Appreciated!!
Answer: Simply 10 (2/5) and 10 (3/10). You will get:
10 * 2 / 5 = 20 / 5 = 4
10 * 3 / 10 = 30 / 10 / 3
Replace the values into the equation and therefore you will get:
10x – 4 = 3
We will add 4 to both sides of the equation to remove the 4 on the left.
10x – 4 + 4 = 3 + 4
10x = 7
Simply put it, when you want to move a negative value over to the other side, you have to change the sign that it holds, so when you move a positive value over to the other part, you will have to minus that value:
y + 1 = 3
y = 2
Get the drift? (:
