Question: Need help with solving Math Probability problem.?

How many ways can a sample of 5 books be chosen from a display of 8 books?
–I got that part.

Part 2:
If random sampling is to be employed, the probability that any particular sample will be selected is _______

This is where I am having problems… Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Answer: You should have gotten ncr(8, 5) = 8! / (5! * 3!) = 56 for the first part.

The second part is just 1/56 = 1.79%

This is so because in total, all 56 chances combined is 56 * 1.79% = 100%. (The total of all possibilities must be 100%).
